How often are club meetings?
Club meetings are monthly.
I am interested in Jump skiing, what is required for this?
A jump skier must demonstrate a set of requirements prior to going over the jump. This involves getting time riding or free-skiing on jump skis.
Does the club compete?
Yes, the club competes against other universities in the Southern & Atlantic Coastal (SAC) region. Particpation in tournaments is not required, but is highly encouraged for all levels of ability.
Dues How much are Dues?
If paid by semester, $150 for Fall, $75 for the Spring, and $45 for the Summer. If paying for the year, $200.
When are Dues due?
Member dues must be paid before the second ski of the semester.
Are dues refundable?
In general, dues are not refundable.
May I try out the club before paying dues?
Students interested in the club have the option to participate as a guest for their first time, at a cost of $15. This cost contributes towards semester dues.
Ski Trip Logistics How often are trips to the lake?
There are usually 2-3 trips per week to the lake during the ski season when classes are in session. Each week, boat drivers post time slots in the sign-up spreedsheet.
How long are trips to the lake?
Trips are approximately 2hr, not including driving time.
How do I sign-up to go ski, wakeboard, etc.?
Check the sign-up sheet, linked in the club’s GroupMe chat, for available time slot.
Is carpooling available?
When signing-up, members will list whether they are able to help drive people to the lake. Usually carpools will be coordinated the night before a trip to the lake.
What should I bring if I have never skied or wakeboarded?
Bring a swimsuit, towel, and a positive attitude! Sunscreen, water, and a hat or sunglasses are also recommended.
Practice Site & Equipment Where do practices take place?
During Fall and Spring, most practices take place at WestEnd Slalom. Summer practices are usually on Lake Allatoona. Jump practice is done in association with the Atlanta Waterski Club on Lake Allatoona.
Do I need to have my own equipment?
Club equipment is available for use by members, but if you have your own, feel feel to bring it!
What kind of boats do we have?
Based on location and ski type, the club has access to a 2016 Ski Nautique 200 and ‘90 & ‘93 Barefoot Sangers
Practice Sets How is practice organized?
Practice is run based on time of arrival. A skier may ski an additional set after all other present club members have skied
What is a set?
A set is defined as 6 passes through the slalom course, 4 jump, or 8-10 minutes of trick/wakeboard/free-skiing.
Boat Drivers Who is allowed to drive the boat?
The club maintains a list of approved/certified drivers who pull club sets, designated as regular or apprentice drivers. Please contact us if intersted in becoming an approved boat driver.
